Tips On Traveling Darjeeling, Mirik and Kalimpong
DARJEELING
You are advised to walk as much as possible in and around Darjeeling town. Coolies or porters are available to carry your luggage. Most of the hotels are however approachable by road and you can take your hired taxis to the hotels directly.
MIRIK
Taxis are available but there are no meter reading system. One really does not need to hire a taxis just to go around the town.. The entire town is stretched over a distance of three kilometers and has an easy gradient.
KALIMPONG
Unlike Darjeeling and Mirik one can avail of taxis in Kalimpong to commute around. There are no meter reading and we advise that you negotiate the rates before boarding a taxi (Fares starts onwards from Rs 20) .
